Big CONGRATULATIONS on our amazing win at last nights Tennis Auckland Awards evening being awarded with two major awards. Named 'Junior Interclub Club Of The Year' and winner of 'Club Spirit' award. Our Open Women 1 and Monday Mens Doubles teams also picked up certificates and a pennant for winning their sections in the Auckland Summer Interclub competition so it was a great night for our club all round. Very proud moment for JPTC!

Our club President Chris Temu and his wife Peggy have just returned from the Aussie Open 2015 (AO15). They had a well deserved holiday and had a great time at the tennis. They watched defending champion Stan Wawrinka and saw a lot of upcoming players like Keys from the USA and some outstanding juniors. 'We recommend that if you LOVE Tennis and want to see it at it's best level, you should go to Melbourne in Jan'. It's the most amazing event.
Ana Tamanika and Ela Vakaukamea had the opportunity to represent Auckland in the 12U National Teams Events and despite a hard loss on the first day came through to win gold medals. Well done girls and what a great team you had. We are so very proud of these talented JPTC young ladies. Thank you to all those that supported our fundraising efforts to help these girls make it to Nationals.
Jellicoe Park Tennis Club had 2 finalists in the Maindraw Tournament. Ana Tamanika took out the title and Ela Vakaukamea came runner up. Well done girls we're always so proud of your achievements.
Friday 25th July 2014, Peggy Temu attended the 2013/2014 Tennis NZ awards at Butterfly Creek in Mangere and was crowned Tennis NZ 'Club Volunteer of The Year'. These awards are held annually and celebrate the success of clubs and players nationally. A highlight of the night was tennis legend Ruia Morrison receiving the lifetime membership award (photo on left). Peggy, along with her husband, Club President Chris Temu and her family attended the night and we are all very proud of her achievement. In her speech on the night she likened the day to day operating of a club to a jigsaw. 'It takes a motivated and positive person to come in and start to put all the pieces in place'. Well done Peggy and thank you from all your JPTC whanau for all the amazing work you do. She continually shows us what can be achieved through sheer determination and hard work. An asset to our club from day one. We'd also like to thank Tennis Auckland, who are an amazing and supportive regional body for their nomination.

Thank you to everyone that attended our annual prizegiving.Special thanks to Sir John Walker (JPTC Patron), Angela Dalton (Chair of Manurewa Local Board), Alan Sorrell (Tennis Auckland President) and Brent Robinson (Tennis Auckland CEO). Please check out our CLUB HONOURS for a full list of champions. CONGRATULATIONS PEGGY TEMU on winning the Tennis Auckland 2013/2014 'Volunteer of the Year' award. We attended the Tennis Auckland Awards evening Thursday 22nd May 2014 where our hardworking volunteer Peggy Temu was named joint winner of this award. Great achievement and well deserved after serving on the JPTC committee for over 19 years. Peggy has been our long serving club Treasuer since 1996, is our current Interclub Controller and Club Motivator, she is also our unofficial club administrator. |
